Shushilan (meaning 'endeavors for a better future') was set up in 1991 to meet the needs of the disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh. The organization has been operating about 40 different projects within five programme areas. In recent years, the working areas has been expanded from just 2 Unions of Kaliganj Upazila under Satkhira District to almost 540 Unions of 65 Upazilas of 29 Districts in Bangladesh. Shushilan intends to establish herself as a representative of people’s organization of the coastal region. Though the transformation of an NGO into a people’s organization is very hard, Shushilan is trying whole heartedly to reach the goal. Moreover, I take this opportunity to express my thanks and gratitude to all of our staff, donors and development partners.
