Message:
Shushilan (meaning 'endeavors for a better future') was set up in 1991 to meet the needs of the disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh. The organization has been operating about 40 different projects within five programme areas. In recent years, the working areas has been expanded from just 2 Unions of Kaliganj Upazila under Satkhira District to almost 540 Unions of 65 Upazilas of 25 Districts in Bangladesh. Shushilan intends to establish herself as a representative of people’s organization of the coastal region. Though the transformation of an NGO into a people’s organization is very hard, Shushilan is trying whole heartedly to reach the goal. Moreover, I take this opportunity to express my thanks and gratitude to all of our staff, donors and development partners.
The website is reconstructed and it is still developing. We beg your pardon for any inconvenience caused by this. Please feel free to contact us for any query or feedback.

About Shushilan:
Shushilan, a Bengali name signifying endeavors for a better future, is a Bangladeshi national non government development organization set up in 1991. The organization came into being in the face of degradation of socio-ecological resources in the southwest coastal region with specific mission to redress the declining natural resource base, livelihoods and food security of the people. To uphold human rights and gender equity for the socially disadvantaged community with the focus on women is another major concern of Shushilan’s development initiatives. Shushilan is a national agro-ecology and right based NGO working in the coastal region for ensuring livelihood security of the resource poor community through promoting sustainable agricultural firming system and environmental health. Wetland resource management with focus on aquaculture is one of the principal components of Shushilan’s development initiatives in the region.
