The principal objective of sustainable environmental resource management program is to ensure food and livelihood security of the Sunderbans dependent resource poor eco-sensitive community of the southwest coastal region. Sustainable resource management program involves multi-dimensional activities. The initiative involves strong advocacy component with specific focus on sustainable agriculture, conservation of biodiversity and introduction of sustainable agriculture in diverse agro-eco zone especially in saline area are essential components of Shushilan’s resource management.

 Due to green house effect global temperature is increasing gradually. Normal environment is being disrupted and imbalanced for this alarming increased global warming. The scientists have blamed human interventions for this. Shushilan has undertaken the following initiatives for the coastal people to cope up with the adverse environmental condition and changing situation |

Disaster makes the people more distressed and helpless; poor, especially women and children become most sufferers. Shushilan has a regular activity on Disaster Preparedness. The main purpose of disaster preparedness program is to make the people aware on the preparedness for before, during and post disaster period with developing people’s skill to face the disasters.

Some on-farm researches have been conducted in the eco-demo farm to introduce mixed shrimp cum finfish culture and to stop mono shrimp culture. The ultimate goal of this project is to conserve bio-diversity as well as the environment. A study on responses of shrimp at different water depth was conducted in 2004. |
