Shushilan

The women UP members who were elected in last two elections could not perform active role in the UPs due to non-specification of their duties, roles & responsibilities. There is no alternative of development of their skills to enhance their contribution in social development activities where organization and its process are important to develop skill.

 

Shushilan is trying to develop skills of women through formation of Upazila Level Women’s Network and organizing meetings and providing skill development trainings. In financial assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB), Shushilan has worked with 451 women UP Members of 145 Unions of 16 Upazilas in Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira and Jessore Districts to develop their skills. The project assessed the roles of women Members in poverty eradication along with developing linkage with different sectoral agencies.

 

The women members have been capable to play their roles in the UPs as the sense of responsibilities and leadership development flourished in them. Awareness development of the male Members and Chairmen has significantly helped the women to easily perform their roles.
